Looking for more information?

Submitting a claim can seem daunting when the loss is large or you don’t have all the information. Below are the primary things to be aware of:

LIfe and Safety

This is the first priority. Nothing stands above than the safety of you and your loved ones.

Mitigate damages

A policyholder is required to protect their property from additional damages and to mitigate the extent of physical and economic losses.

establish a recovery plan

The claim process takes time, so be sure to plan accordingly. Secure temporary housing for you and your family, if needed.

evaluating coverages

The policy holder must submit detailed itemized claims and estimates for property damage (Home and Personal Property) and any time elements, such as additional living expenses. Take time to understand the terms and conditions and responsibilities you may have when filing a claim.

Negotiation and settlement

The policy holder must submit detailed itemized claims and estimates for property damage (Home and Personal Property) and any time elements, such as additional living expenses.

Restore property and operations

Until you have an agreement with your insurer, you should not begin permanent work.

What if my claim was rejected?

Insurance companies routinely reject claims which courts later compel them to pay out. Having your insurance claim denied isn’t the end of the road. Reevaluation can occur up to 2 years after a claim was rejected in the state of Virginia. We will evaluate and advise you if there is a reason to reevaluate the claim.
